Apple Mac
Last Autunm I made the decision to buy an Apple Mac. After a decade of PC use this is like a breath of fresh air and I cant believe I didnt make the change earlier.
Firstly and almost most importantly, Apple products are just so nicely packaged that it almost hurts to take them out and use them!
Secondly and I suppose quite importantly they just work really, really well.
The handling and day to day use is very smooth and intuitive to the point of making a PC look ridiculous.
I was expecting my new mac to be a little bit slower than my last huge power PC, this thing is big and has steam coming out of its ears. basically its angry and you would hope that would be reflected in the speed with which it processes images (this is a big thing to a pro photographer - Its the difference between leaving the office at a reasonable hour or still being at your desk at 2am) So I arranged a little speed test and was amazed at how the mac very quietly and with pure smoothness accelerated ahead of my power packed PC which slowly and loudly handled the task with all the grace of a herd of elephants on crack cocaine.
So Macs are a bit expensive and you have to buy most of your software all over again (and this really is not cheap..ouch!) but really this is all ok because they just look so damn nice..
On a professional note - this change is fantastic for business - I can do things faster and better and be in a nicer mood at the end of the day. This has to be good news..
